Downtown Waterford in western Racine County has a history of distilleries from the 19th century, and now their 21st century distillery is Waterford Stillhouse – right in the heart of downtown on Main Street. They opened their doors in 2021 – as they call it – as “Racine County’s first and only distillery since Prohibition.”
Waterford Stillhouse distills vodka, gin, and bourbon, including varieties like a Lemon Vodka, Light Whiskey, and a Double Barrel Bourbon. Their Light Whiskey won Triple Gold in the Craft Spirit Awards.
The Waterford Stillhouse tasting room offers a small bar and quite a few tables in a cozy space where you can see some of the distilling equipment through windows. The patio out back is a cozy space where you can play games, enjoy a fire, and enjoy samples and cocktails – day and night.
A flight at Waterford Stillhouse is served on a vertical stand with cascading samples of whatever spirits you’d like to try: their Bourbon, Vodka, Lemon Vodka, Barrel-Finished Vodka, New American Gin, or Light Whiskey.
After samples (or instead of), you can enjoy a wide variety of cocktails on their menu. From a basic Old Fashioned to a variety of Mules, a Gimlet, Martini, or maybe even a tasty but low-octane mocktail, they’ll mix it in front of you.
They also make and offer simple syrups, a Bourbon Caramel Sauce, pure Vanilla Extract, and even dehydrated limes.
They do schedule tours, parties, and other events and with those, you can create and bottle your own spirits.
You’ll find Waterford Stillhouse in downtown Waterford, a block off Highways 20 and 83. Highway 36 skims Waterford just to the east, and Highway 164 provides good access from due north.
