The WeatherTech® International Challenge at Road America

A mid-summer favorite, The WeatherTech® International Challenge with Brian Redman presented by HAWK is one of the largest vintage racing events in the United States and features over 400 cars competing in several groups.

Taking place July 15-18, 2021, this four-day weekend event also includes the Concours d’ Elegance on the front straight of the racecourse on Friday for race cars and Saturday night for sports cars is a can’t miss event for any enthusiast!

Racecar Concours d’Elegance
A can’t miss spectacle for enthusiasts of all ages is the Racecar Concours d’Elegance on Friday night, where the cars park along Lake Street in downtown Elkhart Lake from 6-8 p.m. The experience itself is unique in that you are seeing the pinnacle of vintage motoring lined up on the racing surface where history was made for 65 years. Fans will have the rare opportunity to stand inches away from legends like the Porsche 917, 908, 906, Ferrari 312 and 312pb, Lola T165, 911 RSR’s, Shelby GT 350s, and on and on and on.

Sports Car Concours d’Elegance
Saturday night is the Sports Car Concours d’Elegance from 6-8 p.m., also in Elkhart Lake. Brimming with rarity, the track fills again. Most are rare metal, fast metal, and only once in a lifetime, you’ll see it sports car bravado. The access again is unprecedented. Seeing owners giving little kids seat time in the race and sports cars is part of the fun. In short, events like this, having the young ones exposed to the cars, and the sensations surrounding the event is critical to continuing the heritage of vintage racing.

During the Concours events, Road America encourages everyone to follow safe practices, such as social distancing (maintaining six feet from others), frequent hand washing, or using hand sanitizer. Cloth face coverings are also recommended in areas where social distancing is difficult to maintain.

Practice and qualifying will be on Friday and Saturday with Feature Races on Sunday.

Road America NASCAR XFINITY Series Weekend

The NASCAR XFINITY Series Weekend will feature incredible wheel-to-wheel and door-to-door racing from the NASCAR XFINITY Series, Stadium Super Truck Series, and SCCA Pro Trans Am Series. Race fans will have the opportunity to watch some of NASCAR’s future stars as they test their skills on the storied 4-mile, 14-turn road circuit. Road America has a legendary history of featuring brilliant racers on a challenging circuit that easily separates the good from the great drivers.

The widely popular Stadium SUPER Truck Series features identically prepared 650-horsepower trucks that are built to take flight. Being able to race on virtually any surface thrown at them, the Stadium SUPER Trucks will race the front half of Road America, crossing between turns 5 and 13 as compared to the entire 4-mile circuit utilized by NASCAR XFINITY Series and the SCCA Pro Trans Am Series. The Stadium SUPER Truck races presented by Menards will feature four 36-inch tall aluminum ramps placed in strategic locations on the racecourse, allowing the trucks to fly 20 feet off the ground and hundreds of feet down the racecourse. Additional activities include big screens, fan activities, camping and more!

2019 Pro Watercross Tour, Racine

Racine welcomes the only Pro Watercross Tour stop in Wisconsin this summer July 13-14!

Watercross is basically motocross on Personal Watercrafts (PWCs or jet skis) – but these athletes compete on an unpredictable liquid track, varying from oceans, lakes and rivers. Competitors challenge the notion of what’s possible, utilizing the most advanced equipment reaching speeds of over 85 mph against a full line of competitors to the extreme freestylist landing a double back-flip in surf. This sport is driven by their passion, creating a lifestyle that combines adrenaline and pure enjoyment of being on the water.

2018 Pro Watercross, Racine

Each race begins with one of the most gut-wrenching experiences in motorsports the side-by-side gated start. Similar to horse racing, a watercross racing start features 20 riders exploding off the line, each thinking to themselves “I’m going to be the first one to that buoy.” Surviving the first-turn is just the beginning. Speed, technique and racing ability will all come into play over the next 20 minutes, as the riders begin to negotiate a series of left and right hand turns.

This exciting event is part of a national tour with stops in Panama City Beach and Pensacola Beach in Florida; Hartwell, GA; and the National Championship in Charleston, WV.

Round Three takes place on the waters of Lake Michigan at Racine’s nationally-recognized North Beach, with plenty of action in Closed Course, Freestyle, Freeride, and Hydrodrag Racing both Saturday, July 13th and Sunday, July 14th.

Pro Watercross Tour, Racine

You can get to Racine’s North Beach via Highways 11, 20, 32, or 38 towards downtown. North Beach is (like its name implies) just north of downtown. It’s just 15 minutes or so off I-41/94.

World Para Sailing Championships, Sheboygan

“World Sailing is delighted that Sheboygan will be hosting the 2018 edition of the Para World Sailing Championships,” said Para World Sailing Manager Massimo Dighe. “Sheboygan has an excellent track record of hosting major international sailing events. From the Nations Cup Grand Final to the Women’s and Blind Match Racing World Championships, the team on the ground and the town know what it takes to welcome top class sailors. The facilities are exceptional and I am sure the sailors attending will receive a warm welcome.”

The disciplines proposed by the Para World Sailing Committee for inclusion in the 2018 Championships are:

One Person Dinghy (Hansa 303w) – Female
One Person Dinghy (Hansa 303w) – Male
One Person Keelboat (Norlin 2.4mR)

Tom Atkins of Sail Sheboygan said hosting the 2018 Para Worlds helps fulfill Sail Sheboygan’s mission of bringing national and international competition to Sheboygan. In addition, it contributes to a commitment to facilitate adaptive sailing at all levels, from beginner sailors to competitors.

“The bulk of us are able-bodied, full-vision people who love the sport of sailing,” Atkins said. “When you see the sailors, whether they’re blind sailors or disabled people enjoying the same sport, and you see the challenges they are overcoming to do so, you just stand back and it’s awe-inspiring. This is a sport they are able to participate in because of the uniqueness of sailing – equipment can be engineered to help them overcome whatever disability they may have and help them compete at this sport.”

Sheboygan, which has become known for hosting such events as the PGA Championships and is line to host the 2020 Ryder Cup, is excited to bring elite athletes to the community for the Para Worlds, Atkins said.

“We have developed a reputation for sailing and hosting competitive events that is second to none,” he said. “It puts Sheboygan in the spotlight and provides good vibes for the community that we are hosting literally a world-level sailing event. It’s a good image for the sailing community and a good image for the community as a whole. For participants to meet people from other countries from around the world and compete literally at highest level of their sport – that can only help and support the Olympic aspirations.”

Sheboygan was the host of the 2016 Women’s Match Racing World Championship and Blind Match Racing World Championship and the 2017 Blind Fleet Racing World Championship.
