The Wall That Heals Comes to Hartland May 30th through June 2nd

The traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be on display at Hartland’s Nixon Park May 30th through June 2nd as part of its journey across the USA

Hartland, in the heart of Waukesha County’s Lake Country, welcomes The Wall That Heals Thursday, May 30th through 2pm on Sunday, June 2nd. This traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a 3/4-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. It brings the memorial to the people, and the veterans, to thousands of communities across the country. This time, it will be on display in Hartland. The memorial, which includes tens of thousands of names of those who perished, is complemented with a Mobile Education Center. Housed in the 53-foot trailer that carries The Wall That Heals, the trailor’s exterior features a timeline of “The War and The Wall” and provides additional information about the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Additional exhibits give visitors a better understanding of the legacy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the collection of items left at The Wall. Displays include “Hometown Heroes,” which focuses on those lost who were from the local area, and the “In Memory Honor Roll” which adds photos to the names.

Nixon Park also features a Splash Pad for kids, an ice rink (winter only), the Nixon Park Fine Arts Center, and the Lake Country Beer Garden. You’ll find it on Park Avenue on the south end of downtown Hartland, about a mile south of Highway 16, 1 1/2 miles east of Highway 83. You can access the park within 8-10 minutes from I-94’s exit (#287) with Highway 83.
