The 36th annual Great Hartford Craft Exposition brings over 100 exhibitors to Hartford Union High School to give visitors a chance to find great holiday gifts and creative items for your home. It takes place Saturday, November 13th, 2021 from 9am to 3pm, as part of a full day of local celebrations in Hartford. The day includes the annual Hartford Lions Pancake Dinner as well as the local holiday parade, which kicks off at 3pm.
You’ll find Hartford Union High School on Cedar Street, west of Highway 83 and south of Highway 60 in Hartford. The Driftless Film Festival celebrates this unique region that escaped the glaciers of the ice age and its inspiration for many talented artists and filmmakers. Happening November 4 – 7, 2021 this year, the Driftless Film Festival brings together the best of new independent cinema with the landscape, artistic energy, and local atmosphere of Southwest Wisconsin. Now in its eighth year, Driftless continues to provide a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience for audiences and filmmakers alike.
Founded in 2009 by filmmakers Darren Burrows and Nicholas Langholff, Driftless was born of a love for independent films, an appreciation of the unusual region, and the joy of spending a weekend immersed in the charm Mineral Point’s galleries, shops, restaurants, and bars. It is this delightful marriage of place and cinematic story that is the core of the Driftless vision today.
The Driftless Film Festival screens each of its films in the Mineral Point Opera House. Beautifully restored in 2009, it retains the atmosphere of its origins as a 1915 vaudeville house. Brought to life by film screenings and live performances year round, the Opera House is both an elegant testament to Mineral Point’s passion for preservation and a showcase space for some of the best entertainment in the region.
Each year the festival hosts filmmakers from across the country. Special guests have included Mark Metcalf (Animal House, Seinfeld, Little Red), Anthony Arendt (Muscle Shoals, Avatar), and Matt Adams (We Cause Scenes) among many others. Not only do visiting filmmakers present revealing Q&A discussions during the festival, but the weekend provides an opportunity for filmmakers and attendees to mingle outside the screenings.
From popular festival hits to locally-produced art, the Driftless Film Festival seeks to showcase the most thought-provoking, innovative, and creative independent cinema of our time. Norskedalen hosts Ghoulees in the Coulees events Thursday, October 28th through Saturday, October 30th, 2021 providing a fun, yet scary and haunting, experience for the whole family in this beautiful natural and cultural area near Coon Valley in southeastern La Crosse County.
At Ghoulees in the Coulees, you can take a half-mile walk through chilling and thrilling spook stations along one of their wooded trails lined by hundreds of carved, lit pumpkins. Once you navigate this, you’ll regain your wits and end up with a treat and hot apple cider at Bekkum Homestead, a historic homestead over 100 years old, illuminated only by the light of the moon and jack-‘o-lanterns.

Along with the hike, you can enjoy storytelling, fortune-telling, grabbing a snack around the roaring fireplace, and walking through the haunted barns and other buildings. While it can be fun for kids of all ages, you may want to plan earlier hikes while it’s still light out for the very young and “faint of heart.” Earlier hikes around 5-7pm, hikes are less scary (the spooks do not try to scare you, but may offer a high-five, handshake, or wave). Conversely, 7-10:30pm, hikes are SUPER SCARY. They mean it! Chilling ghost stories designed to give you goosebumps will also be told at the end of your hike, making regaining your wits tricky for some. Fortune tellers will also be there to peer into your future.
Family-friendly trick-or-treating takes place Thursday, October 28th. Norskedalen’s Ghoulees in the Coulees Haunted Hikes take place Friday and Saturday October 29th & 30th. Friday slot times range from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (note: most Friday slots are sold out already!); Saturday slot times run from 4:30 p.m. to just after 8:00 p.m.

You’ll find Norskedalen (which means “Norwegian Valley”) along County PI between Highway 162 and U.S. 14/61 just north of Coon Valley in southern La Crosse County. It’s a beautiful drive through the Driftess Area, right as the trees drop the rest of their colorful leaves.

The 9th annual Monument Mash at Monument Square in downtown Racine is happening Saturday, October 30th, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It’s a fun family event that lets kids enjoy trick-or-treating with the downtown businesses, freaky face painting, ghoulish games, a bone-rattling bouncy house, and a “daringly devilish” DJ playing “haunting hits” – we’re guessing “Monster Mash” and “Thriller” might be two songs on the playlist, but that’s just our guess.
From 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., a costume contest will be held for kids across three divisions, as well as a pumpkin decorating and carving contest. You can enjoy some cool prizes, too!

The NEW Zoo (NE Wisconsin Zoo, that’s what “NEW” stands for) northwest of Green Bay celebrates the North Shore Bank NEW Zoo Boo once again in 2021! It’s happening this year on the Friday-Saturday weekends of October 8-9, 15-16, and 22-23. For 2020 there will be no hay rides or giant inflatables, but otherwise show up in costume and enjoy all treats and no tricks. As the NEW Zoo notes on its website, “this year, every guest over the age of 1 can receive a bag of candy on arrival (yes, even the grown-ups)! The Zoo will be filled with festive, family-friendly Halloween decorations, so enjoy the sights of the Halloween season while visiting the animals. Be sure to ride the carousel and walk through the Happy Haunted Maze in the Children’s Zoo. The Dog House will also be on-site selling their full menu, including their famous, fresh battered cheese curds. Families can participate in North Shore Bank’s Zoo Scavenger Hunt, and the first 500 families to finish during each time slot can pick up a prize (while supplies last).”
Festivities for the NEW Zoo Boo run 3-8pm each day. The Adventure Park will be open for regular hours, 10am – 6pm, on all Saturdays and Sundays in October.
Regarding COVID precautions, the NEW Zoo website states: “To encourage comfortable social distancing throughout the Zoo, this year’s event will feature Timed Entries, with limited capacity for each arrival window. Guests must purchase tickets in advance that correspond to the date and time you wish to attend. The Milwaukee County Zoo is going drive-thru again this year! The Milwaukee County Drive-Thru Boo at the Zoo lets you drive on Zoo pathways and take in a variety of Halloween-themed areas, carved pumpkins and illuminated light shows. The ride is specially designed for kids of all ages, including people who are kids at heart. The route is a 30-minute, 1.5-mile Halloween ride that travels on the wide and winding pathways through the Zoo. For safety purposes, animals are not viewable during these evenings.
New this year! Guests can trick-or-treat from their vehicles! Tasty treats will be handed-out along the route.
This event is a merry-not-scary ride, appropriate for kids of all ages, and kids at heart. Concession stops will be available along the route to purchase snacks and treats. Merchandise areas will be available to purchase a favorite memento.
Boo at the Zoo Drive-Thru Admission is $55 per carload for general visitors, $50 per carload for Zoo Pass members. Advance tickets are available online only and cannot be purchased at the Zoo. Port Washington, which calls itself “Your Home Port” for a reason, it’s gorgeous in that downtown area and along the marina, hosts the annual Port Washington Fall Festival on Saturday, October 9th from 11am to 4pm. It’s a “two-fer”, though – 9:30am to 4pm it’s also Love Our Great Lakes Day.
First, the Port Washington Fall Festival celebrates the autumnal season right downtown with a farmer’s market, live music, great food and drinks, even a Fall Family Run along Franklin & Grand in downtown Port. The shops up and down the downtown streets will be ready with their offerings, and of course checking out the harbor area, Rotary Park, the marina, Coal Dock Park, Inventors Brewpub, and more are must-stops when you’re down there. For nature and water lovers, Love Our Great Lakes Day offers a detailed examination of the waters of Lake Michigan and the other Great Lakes, with speakers and afternoon field site visits of restoration work at Mineral Springs Creek and Birchwood Hills, a bird hike through Coal Dock Park led by Observatory staff, music by the Green Sails, tours through the Heart of the Harbor and the Port Washington Exploreum, and more.

Presented by the Cedarburg Artists Guild, the Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour is celebrating 39 years of offering art enthusiasts a chance to visit the studio spaces of 50 members. Opt for a rural drive between locations encompassing the fall splendor of rural Wisconsin: Farm fields, pumpkin patches, Lake Michigan shoreline, picturesque small towns and even an historic wooden covered bridge. Or, if you aren’t in the mood for a leisurely drive, there is easy access between most of the spaces. The studio spaces are as unique and varied as the art. A spare bedroom in a suburban ranch home, an industrial garage, a 19th century barn, an 1850‘s stone mill, a walkout basement, or a tent are all creative spaces where sculpture, jewelry, photography, pottery, blacksmithing, woodworking, weaving, stain glass, encaustics, collage, prints, paintings in all mediums and styles, and fiber arts are brought to life. This is your chance to purchase a unique piece of art directly from the artist along with its “story of creation”. Please be prepared to wear a mask in some of their spaces.

Highway 57’s historic route (now Green Bay Road and Washington Streets) cut right through Cedarburg; Highway 60 is just to the north and Highway 181 is just to the west. I-43 is several miles east; use County C or W to access Cedarburg from there!
It’s Oktoberfest in Dallas! Wisconsin. Yes, this hamlet of 400 tucked into the beautiful hills of Barron County hosts Valkyrie Brewing Company, and Valkyrie is hosting the 25th annual Dallas Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 2nd!
While hosted by Valkyrie, the Oktoberfest celebration will be taking place across parks and streets throughout Dallas. Enjoy everything from a pancake breakfast to a Kubb tournament. There is a car show, an arts and crafts fair, an 1860s era baseball game, a dog costume contest, wiener dog race, raffles, plenty of food, and of course tons of beer from Valkyrie Brewing. Taps will be open from 10am to 8pm at the brewery, with other stands pouring throughout the day as well.
Live music plays from noon to 5pm, with performers like KJ Country, Mark Thompson, Steve Midboe, and Weez & Hans. The Squires Band will also be cranking out polka music, which is a required for any Oktoberfest celebration.

The 63rd annual Art Fair on the Square surrounds the Wisconsin State Capitol the weekend of September 25-26, 2021. Summerfest 2021 rolls on into its final weekend! It’s the “World’s Largest Music Festival” on Milwaukee’s lakefront, and after the pandemic-related cancellation epidemic in 2020, it’s been back! (Thought there are COVID-19 related protocols.) Typically consisting of 11 days of concerts and fun across a 12-day span, you and nearly 900,000 of your closest friends can enjoy over 1,000 performances from nearly 800 acts on the 75-acre Maier Festival Park grounds.
In 2021, Summerfest implemented a new type of schedule: shows and events across three summer weekends, all Thursday – Saturday with a “Wednesday Weekend Kickoff Concert” at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater the evening prior each week. The dates will be in September this year to maximize the possibility of the COVID vaccine making it safer for a bigger gathering. The dates are September 2-4, 9-11, and 16-18, 2021.
Summerfest dates back to 1968 and has since become the backdrop for the music industry’s hottest stars, emerging talent and local favorites to create unforgettable live music experiences in a world-class festival setting. Running along Milwaukee’s lakefront nestled within downtown, Discovery World, I-794, and Lake Michigan, Summerfest offers not only music but over 45 food and beverage vendors, four marketplaces offering crafts and wares from all over the world, interactive exhibits, and just cool general fun.
Due to the increasing spread of COVID-19 including the Delta variant and in part of the requirements from many bands and their staff, Summerfest is requiring the following for entry: a) proof of having had the COVID-19 vaccine, or b) proof of a negative COVID-19 test within the previous 72 hours of your entry. Those who have purchased tickets to show previously are eligible for a refund if they now choose not to attend a show, within certain timeframes. Full information and details are here.

Single Day Ticketsrun $23 per day, you can print them at home or put them on your mobile. These tickets are good for the entire grounds and any show with the exception of the American Family Insurance Amphitheater shows.
A US Cellular Power Pass, which runs $100 and gets you in ALL 9 DAYS of the festival, with the exception of the American Family Insurance Amphitheater shows.
A 6-Day Pass, which gets you in for 6 of 9 days of Summerfest – you choose your 6 days. It runs $75
A US Cellular 3-Day Pass, which for $57 gets you in to 3 of 9 days of Summerfest, you choose which three.
Parking lots are available just to the west of the grounds and throughout downtown Milwaukee and the Historic Third Ward. The Milwaukee County Transit System also offers “freeway flyer” express buses to and from the grounds from numerous Park & Ride lots in the metro area.
The Summerfest Grounds can be accessed directly via I-794, U.S. 18, and Highway 32. I-43/94 and Highways 38, 59, and 145 also bring you within a mile of it – which is how far away some people park! Either way, it’s one of the greatest music festivals on the planet and a definite State Trunk Tour recommendation.

Chippewa Falls is plenty of fun any time of the year, but as summer turns to fall Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest hits the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds and the party really starts! This year, Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest runs Friday, September 16th and Saturday, September 17th, 2022.
This year will bring more kids’ activities and Glockenspiel acts, as well as some of our favorite competitions, such as stein holding, sauerkraut eating, and keg rolling. The weekend kicks off in earnest with the Festmeister and Festmeisterin being announced at the Leinenkugel grounds at 12:00 noon on Friday, followed by the Golden Keg procession to the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds and the tapping of the Golden Keg. Festival goers can enjoy four stages, over 30 entertainers, vendors, authentic foods, and plenty of dancing. And of course, plenty of Gemütlichkeit!

Raise a stein, don a dirndl or some lederhosen, and enjoy live music ranging from polka to folk. Plenty of German food, kids’ activities, dancing, and more can be enjoyed at Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest. It’s located adjacent to the Leinenkugel Brewery and lovely Irvine Park, so there’s a great source of beer and another source of recreation just a stone’s throw away!

Chippewa Falls is easy to get to! The Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds are right along Highway 124 (U.S. 53 back in the day), just north of Business Highway 29. Today’s U.S. 53 freeway, Highway 29 freeway, and Highway 178 all bring you to Chippewa Falls, too. It’s only about 15 minutes north of Eau Claire off I-94, too.

Taking place at the Historic Rogers Street Fishing Village, Rogers Street Days celebrates Two Rivers’ 175+ years of commercial fishing. Great food (especially fresh-caught fish), free live music, games, refreshments, and more complement this weekend-long event. The Susie Q Smelt Fry is one of the more popular draws to Rogers Street Days!

Great Hartford Craft Exposition
The 36th annual Great Hartford Craft Exposition brings over 100 exhibitors to Hartford Union High School to give visitors a chance to find great holiday gifts and creative items for your home. It takes place Saturday, November 13th, 2021 from 9am to 3pm, as part of a full day of local celebrations in Hartford. The day includes the annual Hartford Lions Pancake Dinner as well as the local holiday parade, which kicks off at 3pm.
You’ll find Hartford Union High School on Cedar Street, west of Highway 83 and south of Highway 60 in Hartford. Nearby attractions include the Wisconsin Automotive Museum, Pike Lake Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest, Holy Hill, and more! It’s about 10 minutes west of I-41 at the Highway 60 exit, too.

Driftless Film Festival
The Driftless Film Festival celebrates this unique region that escaped the glaciers of the ice age and its inspiration for many talented artists and filmmakers. Happening November 4 – 7, 2021 this year, the Driftless Film Festival brings together the best of new independent cinema with the landscape, artistic energy, and local atmosphere of Southwest Wisconsin. Now in its eighth year, Driftless continues to provide a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience for audiences and filmmakers alike.
Founded in 2009 by filmmakers Darren Burrows and Nicholas Langholff, Driftless was born of a love for independent films, an appreciation of the unusual region, and the joy of spending a weekend immersed in the charm Mineral Point’s galleries, shops, restaurants, and bars. It is this delightful marriage of place and cinematic story that is the core of the Driftless vision today.
The Driftless Film Festival screens each of its films in the Mineral Point Opera House. Beautifully restored in 2009, it retains the atmosphere of its origins as a 1915 vaudeville house. Brought to life by film screenings and live performances year round, the Opera House is both an elegant testament to Mineral Point’s passion for preservation and a showcase space for some of the best entertainment in the region.
Each year the festival hosts filmmakers from across the country. Special guests have included Mark Metcalf (Animal House, Seinfeld, Little Red), Anthony Arendt (Muscle Shoals, Avatar), and Matt Adams (We Cause Scenes) among many others. Not only do visiting filmmakers present revealing Q&A discussions during the festival, but the weekend provides an opportunity for filmmakers and attendees to mingle outside the screenings.
From popular festival hits to locally-produced art, the Driftless Film Festival seeks to showcase the most thought-provoking, innovative, and creative independent cinema of our time. These films will hit home in a place that feels like home, and of course Pendarvis, “Shake Rag Alley,” and other places to enjoy in town also makes the trip worthwhile.

Ghoulees in the Coulees
Norskedalen hosts Ghoulees in the Coulees events Thursday, October 28th through Saturday, October 30th, 2021 providing a fun, yet scary and haunting, experience for the whole family in this beautiful natural and cultural area near Coon Valley in southeastern La Crosse County.
At Ghoulees in the Coulees, you can take a half-mile walk through chilling and thrilling spook stations along one of their wooded trails lined by hundreds of carved, lit pumpkins. Once you navigate this, you’ll regain your wits and end up with a treat and hot apple cider at Bekkum Homestead, a historic homestead over 100 years old, illuminated only by the light of the moon and jack-‘o-lanterns.
Along with the hike, you can enjoy storytelling, fortune-telling, grabbing a snack around the roaring fireplace, and walking through the haunted barns and other buildings. While it can be fun for kids of all ages, you may want to plan earlier hikes while it’s still light out for the very young and “faint of heart.” Earlier hikes around 5-7pm, hikes are less scary (the spooks do not try to scare you, but may offer a high-five, handshake, or wave). Conversely, 7-10:30pm, hikes are SUPER SCARY. They mean it! Chilling ghost stories designed to give you goosebumps will also be told at the end of your hike, making regaining your wits tricky for some. Fortune tellers will also be there to peer into your future.
Family-friendly trick-or-treating takes place Thursday, October 28th. Norskedalen’s Ghoulees in the Coulees Haunted Hikes take place Friday and Saturday October 29th & 30th. Friday slot times range from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (note: most Friday slots are sold out already!); Saturday slot times run from 4:30 p.m. to just after 8:00 p.m.
Tickets for the hikes are $35 per person. Advance reservations are required.
You’ll find Norskedalen (which means “Norwegian Valley”) along County PI between Highway 162 and U.S. 14/61 just north of Coon Valley in southern La Crosse County. It’s a beautiful drive through the Driftess Area, right as the trees drop the rest of their colorful leaves.

Monument Mash at Monument Square, Racine
The 9th annual Monument Mash at Monument Square in downtown Racine is happening Saturday, October 30th, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It’s a fun family event that lets kids enjoy trick-or-treating with the downtown businesses, freaky face painting, ghoulish games, a bone-rattling bouncy house, and a “daringly devilish” DJ playing “haunting hits” – we’re guessing “Monster Mash” and “Thriller” might be two songs on the playlist, but that’s just our guess.
From 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., a costume contest will be held for kids across three divisions, as well as a pumpkin decorating and carving contest. You can enjoy some cool prizes, too!
You can also check out the Underground Railroad Quilt Exhibit throughout downtown, as well as the Downtown Candy Crawl, which runs from noon until 3 p.m. Lots of options in Racine on Saturday , hit Highways 11, 20, 32, or 38 and get downtown to explore it all!

Halloween Zoo Boo at Lincoln Park Zoo
The Halloween Zoo Boo takes place at Manitowoc’s Lincoln Park Zoo Saturday, October 30th, 2021, with family fun for all ages. Enjoy games, activities, a costume contest, and plenty of food along with all the fun the zoo has to offer. It will be a howling good time from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.! NEW Zoo Boo
Festivities for the NEW Zoo Boo run 3-8pm each day. The Adventure Park will be open for regular hours, 10am – 6pm, on all Saturdays and Sundays in October.
Regarding COVID precautions, the NEW Zoo website states: “To encourage comfortable social distancing throughout the Zoo, this year’s event will feature Timed Entries, with limited capacity for each arrival window. Guests must purchase tickets in advance that correspond to the date and time you wish to attend. Each night, guests can choose to arrive during a 60- or 90-minute arrival window, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., or from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Gates will close at 7:30 p.m., and guests can stay in the Zoo as long as they wish after arrival.”

Milwaukee County Drive-Thru Boo at the Zoo
The Milwaukee County Zoo is going drive-thru again this year! The Milwaukee County Drive-Thru Boo at the Zoo lets you drive on Zoo pathways and take in a variety of Halloween-themed areas, carved pumpkins and illuminated light shows. The ride is specially designed for kids of all ages, including people who are kids at heart. The route is a 30-minute, 1.5-mile Halloween ride that travels on the wide and winding pathways through the Zoo. For safety purposes, animals are not viewable during these evenings.
New this year! Guests can trick-or-treat from their vehicles! Tasty treats will be handed-out along the route.
This event is a merry-not-scary ride, appropriate for kids of all ages, and kids at heart. Concession stops will be available along the route to purchase snacks and treats. Merchandise areas will be available to purchase a favorite memento.
The Milwaukee County Zoo is easily accessible via I-94, I-41/894, U.S. 18, U.S. 45, or Highway 100. It’s essentially in the center of all those major arteries! Enter the zoo off U.S. 18/Bluemound Road between Highway 100 and the Zoo Freeway, which is I-41/U.S. 45.

Port Washington Fall Festival & Love Our Great Lakes Day
Port Washington, which calls itself “Your Home Port” for a reason, it’s gorgeous in that downtown area and along the marina, hosts the annual Port Washington Fall Festival on Saturday, October 9th from 11am to 4pm. It’s a “two-fer”, though – 9:30am to 4pm it’s also Love Our Great Lakes Day.
First, the Port Washington Fall Festival celebrates the autumnal season right downtown with a farmer’s market, live music, great food and drinks, even a Fall Family Run along Franklin & Grand in downtown Port. The shops up and down the downtown streets will be ready with their offerings, and of course checking out the harbor area, Rotary Park, the marina, Coal Dock Park, Inventors Brewpub, and more are must-stops when you’re down there. The Fall Festival begins at 11am and runs full force until 4pm, with plenty of fun to follow – stick around and enjoy!
For nature and water lovers, Love Our Great Lakes Day offers a detailed examination of the waters of Lake Michigan and the other Great Lakes, with speakers and afternoon field site visits of restoration work at Mineral Springs Creek and Birchwood Hills, a bird hike through Coal Dock Park led by Observatory staff, music by the Green Sails, tours through the Heart of the Harbor and the Port Washington Exploreum, and more.

The Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour
Enjoy this once-a-year chance to get an up close and personal look at some of Southeastern Wisconsin’s finest artists and the spaces in which they work. Presented by the Cedarburg Artists Guild, the Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour is celebrating 39 years of offering art enthusiasts a chance to visit the studio spaces of 50 members. Visit the studios and get a glimpse into their creative process. The art tour is always held on the second full weekend of October, so here in 2021 it runs Friday, October 8th through Sunday, October 10th. The artists will be creating art during the event and are happy to explain their artistic process and inspirations.

Opt for a rural drive between locations encompassing the fall splendor of rural Wisconsin: Farm fields, pumpkin patches, Lake Michigan shoreline, picturesque small towns and even an historic wooden covered bridge. Or, if you aren’t in the mood for a leisurely drive, there is easy access between most of the spaces. The studio spaces are as unique and varied as the art. A spare bedroom in a suburban ranch home, an industrial garage, a 19th century barn, an 1850‘s stone mill, a walkout basement, or a tent are all creative spaces where sculpture, jewelry, photography, pottery, blacksmithing, woodworking, weaving, stain glass, encaustics, collage, prints, paintings in all mediums and styles, and fiber arts are brought to life. This is your chance to purchase a unique piece of art directly from the artist along with its “story of creation”. Please be prepared to wear a mask in some of their spaces.

Dallas Oktoberfest
It’s Oktoberfest in Dallas! Wisconsin. Yes, this hamlet of 400 tucked into the beautiful hills of Barron County hosts Valkyrie Brewing Company, and Valkyrie is hosting the 25th annual Dallas Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 2nd!
While hosted by Valkyrie, the Oktoberfest celebration will be taking place across parks and streets throughout Dallas. Enjoy everything from a pancake breakfast to a Kubb tournament. There is a car show, an arts and crafts fair, an 1860s era baseball game, a dog costume contest, wiener dog race, raffles, plenty of food, and of course tons of beer from Valkyrie Brewing. Taps will be open from 10am to 8pm at the brewery, with other stands pouring throughout the day as well.
Live music plays from noon to 5pm, with performers like KJ Country, Mark Thompson, Steve Midboe, and Weez & Hans. The Squires Band will also be cranking out polka music, which is a required for any Oktoberfest celebration.

There is road construction around Dallas. You can use these directions as your guide:
– From the South, including Eau Claire & Chippewa Falls: Follow U.S. 53 to the Highway 64 exit north of Bloomer. Head west on 64 to Highway 25. Go north on Highway 25 and take a right on County Highway A to Dallas (there are detour signs, but Highway A IS complete and open to Dallas.)
– From the West: Once again, ignore the detour signs on Highway 25. Hwy A is open to Dallas from Hwy 25.
– From the North: Take U.S. 53 to the U.S. 8 exit and head west to Barron. Go south on Highway 25 to County U. Take U east and south into Dallas.

Summerfest
In 2021, Summerfest implemented a new type of schedule: shows and events across three summer weekends, all Thursday – Saturday with a “Wednesday Weekend Kickoff Concert” at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater the evening prior each week. The dates will be in September this year to maximize the possibility of the COVID vaccine making it safer for a bigger gathering. The dates are September 2-4, 9-11, and 16-18, 2021.
Due to the increasing spread of COVID-19 including the Delta variant and in part of the requirements from many bands and their staff, Summerfest is requiring the following for entry: a) proof of having had the COVID-19 vaccine, or b) proof of a negative COVID-19 test within the previous 72 hours of your entry. Those who have purchased tickets to show previously are eligible for a refund if they now choose not to attend a show, within certain timeframes. Full information and details are here.

Single Day Tickets run $23 per day, you can print them at home or put them on your mobile. These tickets are good for the entire grounds and any show with the exception of the American Family Insurance Amphitheater shows.

Parking lots are available just to the west of the grounds and throughout downtown Milwaukee and the Historic Third Ward. The Milwaukee County Transit System also offers “freeway flyer” express buses to and from the grounds from numerous Park & Ride lots in the metro area.
The Summerfest Grounds can be accessed directly via I-794, U.S. 18, and Highway 32. I-43/94 and Highways 38, 59, and 145 also bring you within a mile of it – which is how far away some people park! Either way, it’s one of the greatest music festivals on the planet and a definite State Trunk Tour recommendation.

Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest
Chippewa Falls is plenty of fun any time of the year, but as summer turns to fall Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest hits the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds and the party really starts! This year, Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest runs Friday, September 16th and Saturday, September 17th, 2022.
This year will bring more kids’ activities and Glockenspiel acts, as well as some of our favorite competitions, such as stein holding, sauerkraut eating, and keg rolling. The weekend kicks off in earnest with the Festmeister and Festmeisterin being announced at the Leinenkugel grounds at 12:00 noon on Friday, followed by the Golden Keg procession to the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds and the tapping of the Golden Keg. Festival goers can enjoy four stages, over 30 entertainers, vendors, authentic foods, and plenty of dancing. And of course, plenty of Gemütlichkeit!
Admission to Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest is $10 at the gate; kids 12 and under get in free. You can buy wristbands, parking, multi-day deals, merch, and more here.
Chippewa Falls is easy to get to! The Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds are right along Highway 124 (U.S. 53 back in the day), just north of Business Highway 29. Today’s U.S. 53 freeway, Highway 29 freeway, and Highway 178 all bring you to Chippewa Falls, too. It’s only about 15 minutes north of Eau Claire off I-94, too.

Rogers Street Days at Historic Rogers Street Fishing Village
Enjoy FREE live music from Beer Club Friday night, Nettle Hill Saturday afternoon, and the Dave Steffen Band Saturday night. There will be plenty of family fun during the day Saturday, including boat building for kids, kids’ games, bingo for everyone, bucket raffles, and fantastic food and refreshments.
And while you’re there, tour the museums, walk the boardwalk, check out the original engines, shipwreck remnants and artifacts, climb the original 1886 lighthouse, and explore the 1936 tugboat Buddy O. You can have fun and learn – and then eat, drink, and have more fun!
You’ll find the Historic Rogers Street Fishing Village near Highway 42 in Two Rivers, near the endpoints of Highways 147 and 310.

Waukesha Art Crawl
Downtown Waukesha, along with being a crazy maze of streets, offers up a lot of fun places. That includes art galleries. For the Waukesha Art Crawl, over 175 artisans at 20 galleries and showplaces, live music, gift shops and more are featured at this seasonal event. Walk the downtown streets to discover your next artistic treasure, shop the boutiques, listen to live music or indulge in food and drink.
The “Mother of All Crawls” is the theme for the next one on Saturday, August 7th, 2021.
