Stevens Point has a long history of brewing. Now, with Sunset Point Winery you have a downtown option for exploring and imbibing in a variety of wine.

Sunset Point Winery has a tasting room on Water Street on the west edge of downtown Stevens Point, facing the Wisconsin River. It’s an interesting room, not only with a bar to sidle up to along with tables, but even some unique seating options that hang from the ceiling – they add quite a splash of color, too! Crafts abound as you also can find plenty of merch.

Sunset Point wines have won competitions at Wisconsin State Fair and at the Finger Lakes International Wine & Spirit Competition in New York. You can enjoy individual wine tastings and, when live music isn’t happening – a wine flight.

All wine are made on-site in small batches. Their wines include:

WHITE
Solstice Sauvignon Blanc ~ very dry, unoaked, mildly acidic and refreshing.
Itasca ~ A dry Wisconsin Itasca wine, lightly citrus up front with a lingering mineral finish on the palate.​
Constellation Chardonnay ~ dry, lightly oaked, with notes of fresh pear and a smooth rounded finish.
Pisces Pinot Grigio ~ this balanced dry white wine is a favorite of owner Kelly.
Polka Stomp ~ off-sweet, clean and crisp with hints of pear, lemon peel & starfruit. Grapes grown in Portage County, WI.
Blazin’ Brianna ~ sweet and fruity, light and crisp. Grapes grown in Portage County, WI.
Galactic Gris ~ an amazing Frontenac Gris wine with notes of grapefruit and a smooth honey finish.
Cosmic White ~ a sweet white blend of Wisconsin grown Frontenac Blanc, Frontenac Gris, and Brianna grapes.
Nova ~ a sweet medium bodied white wine made with Niagara grapes from Argentina or Spain.

RED
Sunset Pinot Noir ~ lightly oaked with French oak for a lighter style on this classic red wine.
Del Sole ~ Italian Sangiovese grapes from the Chianti region of Tuscany. Medium body, velvet smooth, subtle earthy finish.
Tradewinds Cabernet ~ California grapes used to create a full dry red with a bold bright flavor and black fruit finish.
Tramonto ~ rich, full bodied, and complex aroma and flavors. Grapes sourced from the Piedmont region of Italy.
​Orion Rosé ~ A lovely off-dry balance of three Wisconsin grown grapes; Petit Pear, St. Croix, and Marquette.

BARREL-AGED
Super Nova ~ Niagara grape wine aged in a brandy barrel for a spirited white wine.​
Tramonto Whiskey Barrel Aged ~ our rich Tramonto made luxuriously deep and smokey with months of barrel aging.

FRUIT
Glacial Lake Cran Grape ~ white grapes and local cranberries make this wine a nice mix of tart and sweet.
Golden Sands Cran-Raspberry ~ a sweet-tart blend of raspberry and local cranberries.
Helene’s Honey Crisp ~ sweetly delicious, made with Honeycrisp apples from Helene’s Hilltop Orchard. Autumn release.
​Red Dwarf ~ Wisconsin-grown Frontenac Gris grapes plus Aronia berries. Semi-sweet with a refreshing, mild tart flavor.
Blü Nova ~ semi sweet, we blend our Nova with locally sourced fresh blueberries from Chet’s Blueberry Farm.
Big Bang Strawberry Rhubarb ~ a seasonal treat combining the wholesome flavors of strawberry and rhubarb.
Polaris Plum ~ am amazing plum wine with an explosion of delicious flavor. IYKYK (returning in 2024)
Pom Zen ~ a sweet and juicy combination of Zinfandel and pomegranate.
Blackberry Midnight ~ this Merlot and blackberry blend produces an easy drinking sweet red.
Sunset Cove ~ a sweet Moscato infused with mandarin oranges, sweet, but not overly so.
Peach Flare ~ a light refreshing Chardonnay infused with aromatic peaches.
Tropical Storm ~ a sweet Viognier flavored with pineapple and melon.
Strawberry Sunburst ~ sweet strawberries in a white Zinfandel; an amazing aroma and lingering wild strawberry finish.

DESSERT
Dark Side of the Moon ~ heavy notes of dark chocolate with a raspberry finish. Pour over ice cream or cheesecake!
Shoot for the Moon ~ rich dark chocolate and sweet tart ripe cherry blend to a mouthwatering dessert wine.
Harvest Moon ~ perfect for fall, this autumn spice dessert wine is bursting with natural flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Vortex ~ a sweet-tart ice wine style dessert wine made with Cabernet Franc grapes.
Gateway to Heaven ~ this sweet Marquette wine is fortified with brandy to keep you warm in Wisconsin!

They offer tours of their facility on Saturdays at 3:30pm, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at their production and aging facilities beyond the Tasting Room. Tours are $14 and include a souvenir glass and a wine tasting flight (which is almost $14 as it is.) And of course, they’ll accommodate however many bottles of wine you may wish to purchase and take with you! You can – and should – reserve a tour ahead of time by calling 715-544-1262.

Sunset Point Winery in Stevens Point, WisconsinYou’ll find Sunset Point Winery along Highway 66 just south of Main Street, where the historical route of U.S. 10 crossed the Wisconsin River. It’s just a few minutes west of Business U.S. 51 and today’s I-39/U.S. 51 freeway. Plenty of parking is available on the surrounding blocks and in the park across the street.
