North Pillar Brewing

It’s only fitting that North Pillar Brewing would open inside a former brewery in downtown Waukesha, given the city’s history of brewing and reputation for healthy water and mineral springs.

North Pillar Brewing opened in 2023 right on North Street, a block north of the historic Five Points intersection where U.S. 18 traversed the city and crossed the Fox River.

North Pillar Brewing Tap Room & Brewery

The Tap Room in North Pillar Brewing Company, Waukesha, WisconsinNorth Pillar’s building dates back to the 19th century, with several add-ons since. Historic photos don the walls, especially in the tasting room behind the main tap room, which is also available for rental and events. The building has served many purposes over the years, including as the former Weber Brewery from 1934 to 1958; the first brewery in this building actually dates back to 1857!

There’s a lot of room at the bar and in the “lounge,” where you can sit at high-top tables or literally lounge on couches. They have big TVs for game watching, areas to play games that include family-friendly fun, and garage doors that open to a front patio during nice weather. The design of the building means high ceilings, soaring supports, and room for the brew kettles clearly visible from the entire place.

Dogs are welcome on the patio outside as weather allows.

Right: Today’s North Pillar Brewing is inside what was the Weber Brewery from the 30s to the 50s, and yes… they do have some original cans and other memorabilia from that era. They’ll bring it out and show it to you if you ask nice!

North Pillar Brewing Company, Waukesha, Wisconsin

You’ll find North Pillar right along the main drag of North Street, formerly Highway 164, coming into downtown. The former U.S. 18 route through downtown crosses a few blocks south (we wish these numbered state routes still came all the way into town!) The Fox River and Frame Park are two blocks to the east. With Waukesha’s crazy network of streets, somehow sticking to a main drag with bring you past North Pillar somehow.
