Round Man Brewing Company opened along Walnut Street in downtown Spooner in November of 2018. Owned by the Churchill family, you will see references to Winston Churchill above the tap handles and even in the names of some of the beers and meals. One of Churchill’s nicknames was “Round Man,” leading to the brewery’s name. The brewery quickly became a major destination and gathering spot in Spooner, the seat of Washburn County. Along with the brewery and Tap Room bar area, Round Man features two restaurant seating areas, an event space, and an outdoor patio in season. The bar is rather extensive in terms of size and the taps behind the bar features handles fashioned from a variety of tools, all adorned with a bust of Winston Churchill right in the middle.
Round Man features over a dozen craft beers brewed on-site along with a full restaurant menu and spacious bar and dining areas, covering what were previously three storefronts. You can try five of them in a flight, which comes in a wooden gear. Of course, a variety of 10-oz and pint servings are available for all of their beers, which range widely in style but focus heavily on lighter lagers and craft IPAs.
Beers at our last visit included:
- Back Alley Sally, a light lager
- KBO Cream Ale
- Mortified Pale Ale
- Smoke in the Eye IPA
- Omaha X, an Imperial IPA
- Log Chain Lager, an American lager
- Rhapsody, a Bohemian Lager (yes, the Queen song ends up in your head)
- Red Right Hand Irish style Red Ale
- Mud Duck, a delicious Oreo Milkshake Stout that definitely smells like an Oreo cookie
- JT Murphy Irish Stout
- Get to the Hoppa, a Hazy IPA
- Ha-Spoonah Colada, another Hazy IPA
- To Hop & To Hold, a session Pale Ale
- RazzBeret, a hard seltzer to give non-beer lovers a good option
Round Man is essentially a brew pub in the Tap Room, with an extensive menu offering everything from salads and pizzas that use the same grains as the beer in their crusts to meatloaf dinners and rice bowls with an Asian flair. A variety of burgers and sandwiches include the prime rib sandwich and the Never Surrender Burger, a cataclysmic concoction that combines two stacked grass-fed, locally raised beef patties, cheddar, 4 slices of bacon, a fried egg, and a spicy red pepper relish – all doused in gravy. It comes with fries, pickles, and a horseradish sauce. We had to mention it since it almost has a “Man vs. Food” quality to it.

Round Man Brewing Company is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am – 9pm. They are closed Sunday and Monday,
