Superior Pale Ale, available at Earth Rider Brewing Company in Superior, Wisconsin

Earth Rider Brewing Company

Earth Rider Brewing is tucked into Wisconsin’s northwestern corner in Superior at the “head of the Great Lakes,” right where Highway 35 ends and where I-535 and U.S. 53 leapfrog the St. Louis River for Superior’s sister city across the bay, Duluth, Minnesota. The complex includes the Cedar Lounge Taproom and the brewery itself next door. The Cedar Lounge was originally constructed in 1912 by another, former brewery: the Northern Brewing Company, which operated from 1898 until 1967. They used the Cedar Lounge as a tied house; today, Earth Rider uses it as a tap room and event space, including games, live music, tastings, and more.

The brewery itself was constructed in the 1880s and served as a bakery for many years – so the history of yeasts, wheat, and more go back a LONG way in this facility.

Brews from Earth Rider, made with Lake Superior waters and freshly available at the Cedar Lounge Taproom, include:

Their beers are available on tap, in cars, crowlers, and more. They can be found at stores around northwestern Wisconsin and other parts of the state, but of course it’s always most fun to go to the source. Especially if you can get a tour of the facility! Tours are available on Saturdays at 4pm. The brewery tour costs $6, lasts approximately one hour, and includes samples and a souvenir Earth Rider sample glass.
