The Dahl Auto Museum emerged from one of the original showrooms for the Dahl Auto Group, which has dealerships in La Crosse, Onalaska, Stevens Point, Rhinelander, and over in Winona, Minnesota across a variety of auto brands. Their Ford dealership is the 8th oldest under continuous family ownership in the U.S.
The museum is an amazing stroll down memory lane, where you can immerse yourself in the rich history of automobiles. The Dahl family has been in the automotive dealer business for over 100 years, spanning five generations – so they know their history and have an impressive collection to show. Much is shown “through the eyes” of the Ford Motor Company; there’s also an extensive mascot collection and many beautifully restored classic automobiles from the turn of the century to present.
Just some examples include a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster; a 1914 Saxon model Roadster; a 1911 Ford Model T Roadster; a 1919 Ford Model TT (Ton Truck, a very large one for the time); a 1922 Model T Speedster; a 1923 Ford Model T Depot Hack; a 1926 Ford Model T Coupe; a 1929 Ford Model A Pickup; a 1932 Chrysler CP-8 sedan; a 1955 Buick Special; a 1955 Ford Thunderbird; a 1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie Skyliner; a 1969 Ford Mustang Cobra JET; even a 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition.
The Dahl Auto Museum is open Wednesday – Saturday from 10am-4pm. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for Seniors and $3 for Kids 9-16, and free for Kids under 8 and Dahl’s service guests.
The Dahl Auto Museum is in La Crosse, right between the heart of downtown and the “World’s Largest Six Pack,” now back in Old Style can wraps. You’ll find it (and parking) right along southbound 3rd Street (U.S. 14 & 61) just south of the bridge access to Minnesota. U.S. 53 begins just to the north; Highways 16, 33, or 35, bring you either there or within blocks.
