Windigo Fest« Back to Events
Windigo Fest is a celebration of all things Halloween. The spine-chilling festival takes place in historical downtown Manitowoc, Wisconsin. All Hallows Eve enthusiasts with a hunger for the strange and unusual can experience a weekend filled with various seasonal activities including outstanding music, costume contests, dark art exhibits and contests, bizarre performances, and the historical cemetery bus tour. Windigo Fest kicks off Friday evening. After a day full of Halloween havoc, a parade will again display the Midwest’s best competitive costumes.
Because this is 2020, some changes are being made. This is from Windigo Fest’s Facebook Page with details:
“Due to Covid 19, in order to ensure safety and follow CDC guidelines, we have decided to “slash” the venue down a bit. Understand this is not what we wanted to do, but find it necessary to assure the future of Windigo Fest and most importantly keep all you freaks safe.
The event will consist of the shadow cast performance of Rocky Horror Picture Show at Lakeshore Cinema (ticketed event) on Friday, October 2nd. There will be two shows with limited capacity and the tickets will be available on Eventbrite shortly.
“On Saturday, October 3rd we will be holding the festival in Washington Park in downtown Manitowoc with performances by Bare Bones Blind, Ratbatspider, Hellbilly Deluxe – a tribute to Rob Zombie, and the infamous Jezzibell and company sideshow. Also on stage we will have Lakeside Luminaires, make-up demos, a presentation by the Windigo Paranormal group, and last but not least the Windigo Dancing Witches. Throughout the park there will be various vendors selling Halloween and Oddity goods along with Food Trucks concocting all sorts of goodies for you to devour. The Windigo Society will be serving up beverages together with our legendary roaming Mables, who in the past have become the hit of the party! The Highland Haunters will be joining some of our own characters in keeping Halloween 2020 alive…or ummmm dead, and yes the hearses will once again be displayed for your viewing pleasure! For those of you who want to capture this remarkable year and have a keepsake, the Dysfunctional Family Photo booth is the place for you! In place of the parade and costume contest this year we are holding a Covid 19 mask contest. Simply conjure up your creepiest or craziest covid mask and judges will award a trophy to the winners of these two categories. In the event of inclement weather we will have to cancel the event. Windigo Fest will not be fenced in this year so there will be no entry fee however, there also will be no carry ins into the park and this will be strictly enforced. IT IS HALLOWEEN SO WEAR A COSTUME!!!!!
“Washington Park is a vast area and we are encouraging everyone to stay safe and follow the CDC guidelines. We ask you stay 6 feet apart since this is better than 6 feet under. Masks should be worn unless you are eating or drinking. Wash or sanitize your hands frequently at any of the stations throughout the venue. SPREAD THE WORD NOT THE RONA!!!!”
