Monument Square Art Festival, Racine

Monument Square Art Festival in RacineRacine’s Monument Square Art Festival – they sometimes shorten it to MSAF – takes place Saturday and Sunday June 1st and 2nd, 2019. It’s one of Wisconsin’s oldest and most respected juried fine arts events, with over 60 artists from around the country. You’ll find works in a wide variety of media.

The festival includes the Great Lakes Chalk Art Competition (GLCAC), sponsored by Real Racine, featuring regional arts creating works of art along Fifth Street from Wisconsin Avenue to Main Street all day Saturday. GLCAC is a juried event offering $1,000 in cash awards. Judging takes place at the end of the day Saturday. Awards will be announced at the evening GLCAC/MSAF artists’ reception.

Check out “Chalk It Up and Chow Down” – a selection of local food vendors set up near the GLCAC artists. Live entertainment, a silent auction, and children’s activities round out the fun this weekend in Racine.

Monument Square Art Festival is coordinated by Racine Arts Council, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. RAC’s mission is to encourage, support and advocate on behalf of emerging and established artists, artistic groups in our community, and young people interested in the arts.

Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free!

You can get to downtown Racine via Highways 11, 20, 32, or 38. The city center is about 4 miles east of Highway 31 and 8 miles east of I-41/94.
