Right Bauer Brewing opened in October 2018 in Sun Prairie, right downtown among the many storefronts along Main Street, which is also Highway 19. Launched by five local partners, Right Bauer is a “laid back, café style” (their words, and it’s pretty accurate) brewpub and restaurant in a former retail space with games to play and craft brews to enjoy. They kept and restored the original 19th century hardwood floors and brick walls. Old 45 records dot some of the walls, as well as some Sun Prairie historic artifacts.
They refer to themselves at “Right Bauer Brewery and Kitchen” because they not only brew up a number of their own craft beers, they have a kitchen focusing on southern smokehouse style BBQ, pizzas, and we’ve enjoyed their fried cheese curds there with a number of creative sauces (of course, BBQ lends itself well to creative sauces, too!)
They offer a mixture of their own brews, ciders, and kombucha on tap along with a rotating selection of others from around the state. As of our last check, Right Bauer’s own beers available there include:
- Let It Rye’d Rye Lager
- Jump the River, a dry-hopped American Wheat
- Table Talk Blonde Ale
- Peanuckle Porter, a Peanut Butter Porter
- Shoot the Moon, a Belgian Quadrupel
- Peaches N Cream, a Milkshake IPA
- Suicide King, an Imperial Double IPA
- One-Eyed Jack, a Juicy IPA

If you’re with friends who lack enthusiasm for beer, Right Bauer also mixes up a variety of cocktails and has wines, seltzers, and sodas available, including several homemade sodas like the Bluebird (a house blueberry simple with soda water), Strawberry Fields (house strawberry-lime simple with soda water), along with Organic Lemonade and Organic Limeade. So they’ll have your bases covered.
You’ll find Right Bauer Brewing in a storefront right along Highway 19/Main Street in the heart of downtown Sun Prairie. It’s one block off The Cannery Square and across the back parking lot from Market Street Diner & Bakery and another craft brewery, Full Mile. Business U.S. 151 also brings you here, just off the mainline U.S. 151 that bypasses the heart of town. It’s just minutes northeast of Madison; you can also easily access Sun Prairie’s downtown via County N north from I-94 (Exit #244). Enjoy the town while you’re there, including The Cannery, the historic marker for being Georgia O’Keeffe’s birthplace, Angell Park and Angell Park Speedway just blocks away, and more.
