With a name like Aspen Sky, you may envision mountains. While the nearby Little Switzerland Ski Area is the closest you’ll get around there, you’ll find the Aspen Sky Winery & Distillery is a great getaway in Slinger. And yet, it’s surrounded by major state highways in the back end of a light industrial park.
Aspen Sky opened in 2023 at the end of Enterprise Drive, a street that extends south from Highway 60 into a little triangle of land that Highways 164 and 175 border. Past the buildings that host machine shops and logistics warehouses you come across a lovely building that hosts an event venue – popular with wedding receptions and meetings – along with Aspen Sky’s Tasting Room. Nobody stumbles right past this place; you have to KNOW where it is.
Once there, you’ll find Aspen Sky has a wide variety of grapes from across the nation’s growing regions, including Wisconsin, California, and the Pacific Northwest. As they say, they “add their own touches” right on their grounds.
Wine selections include Whites and Reds primarily from Washington- and Wisconsin-grown grapes. The Petite Pearl grape in particular makes an appearance. Their Sparkling Brut hails from Michigan. They also have a “give back” program where 20% of the sales from their Rose bottles are donated to the Washington County Humane Society.
The Distillery portion of Aspen Sky includes their Bourbon and Rye, along with a Gin, a Vodka, and an Agave. Flights are available for wines or spirits. Both offerings also mean a number of signature cocktails are available.
The Tasting Room has plenty of space for enjoy samples or whole bottles. The adjacent kitchen offers everything from pizzas to charcuterie boards. Weather permitting, the outdoor patio has tables, fire pits, and room for kids (and adults who’ve had too many) to run around and work off their energy. And yes, on a nice summer or fall day you can spread out on the grass with a blanket and enjoy a nice picnic experience.
You’ll find Aspen Sky Winery & Distillery in Slinger, wedged in a triangle of land bordered by Highways 60, 164, and 175. I-41 is less than a mile away and you can access via the Highway 60 exit to Slinger. The only access point is from Highway 60, a turn south on Enterprise Drive. You’ll find this enterprising winery, distillery, and event venue right at the end of the street!
