Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Festival« Back to Events
The annual Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Festival is going somewhat virtual this year: it will function as a drive-thru!
This one-day “drive-thru” event will be held Saturday, August 22nd to continue the tradition of corn harvest in Sun Prairie. Sweet corn, beverages and other products from local restaurants will be available for purchase that day. You can drive to Angell Park, place your order, and (of course) pay. They will put the items you buy in the trunk of your vehicle at the end of the line. All you need is a credit card, an interest in helping others in Sun Prairie, and a desire for corn and other tasty foods and beverages.
In the spirit of community (and because we love radio in general), 103.5 THE SUN COMMUNITY RADIO will broadcast live from the event; upon entry they ask all cars to tune in on their radios to give the event more of a community feel as well as provide updates on what is happening at the end of the line. Wisconsin Distributors worked with Potosi Brewery to brew one batch of Sun Prairie Strong Prairie Pilsner specifically for this event. A portion of the proceeds generated by the sale of that beer will be donated to the charities that lost necessary revenue due to Corn Fest being cancelled in its regular form. The chamber will have goodie bags to distribute to the first 500 cars through the line and Wisconsin Distributors donated 1,000 Busch Light Corn Koozies, one for each of the first 1,000 cars to come through the line.
Angell Park is a beautiful historic park adjacent to Sun Prairie’s downtown. It’s also home to the Angell Park Speedway, a 1/3 dirt oval that dates back to 1903! You can reach Angell Park via Highway 19 through the city. From the U.S. 151 bypass, follow Main Street or the Highway 19 exit. You can also easily reach Angell Park via County N north from I-94 at the Cottage Grove exit.
