SUMMARY:Kenosha Homecoming Car Show
DESCRIPTION:Automobile manufacturing took place in Kenosha for more than 100 years. The Kenosha County Historical Society (aka the Kenosha History Center) celebrates the area’s industrial history\, including how Kenosha’s auto-making legacy shaped history through the 20th Century. Both the Museum and the Kenosha Homecoming Car Show help celebrate this legacy. \nThe Kenosha Homecoming Car Show is a signature event in the Kenosha Area. Typically held every three years\, the celebration runs July 22-27\, 2025 with a variety of events across multiple locations. The big car show/swap meet is Saturday\, July 26. This is among the largest AMC shows in the world! \nBring your car to show it\, or just come as a spectator. The Kenosha History Center recommends car owners and swap meet vendors preregister for the show/swap meet. Cars and Vendors can also register the day of the show. \n\nKenosha Homecoming Car Show Schedule of Events\nThursday 7/24\n4PM – 8PM: Evening Car Cruise-in at AMC Factory Site\, off of 22nd Avenue and 30th Avenue. For the first time ever\, the Homecoming Car Show Thursday Night Cruise-in will be held on the site where it all started. All Kenosha-made automobiles are invited to attend an evening cruise-in on the Nash/AMC/Chrysler Factory Site (now the Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood). Bring your car back to where it was manufactured; it is sure to be a nostalgic evening. The event will be part of the City of Kenosha’s 175th Anniversary Celebration. All Kenosha-made vehicles will enter from 56th Street. Spectator parking will be announced soon. \nFriday 7/25\n8AM – 4PM: Homecoming Car Show Swap Meet at Kennedy Park\, 4051 5th Avenue. Fee for vendors. \n10AM – Noon: Gremlin Event at Jeffery Elementary School\, 4011 87th Street \n4PM: Homecoming Car Show Parade starts at Southport Park\, 7501 2nd Avenue. Staging starts around 3PM. The parade will travel west on 78th Street\, right on 7th Avenue\, and continue through Downtown Kenosha. It will continue on 6th Avenue\, right into Pennoyer Park\, continue through Kennedy Park\, and continue through Simmons Island Park. The parade ends at the Kenosha History Center Block Party\, 220 51st Place. \n4PM – 8PM: Kenosha Homecoming Block Party at Kenosha History Center\, 220 51st Place. The road will be closed to all other traffic. Vehicles coming to the 2025 Kenosha Homecoming Car Show at Kennedy Park on July 26 can register their car at the museum that evening and save time and hassle the next morning. Registration packets can also be picked up for anyone who pre-registered. The museum and gift shop will be open until 7PM and stocked full of AMC/Nash T-shirts and other keepsakes. Food trucks will be on-site. \nSaturday 7/26\n8AM – 4PM: 2025 Kenosha Homecoming Car Show & Swap Meet at Kennedy Park\, 4051 5th Avenue. Fee for show cars and vendors. \nSunday 7/27\n9AM: Racing at Great Lakes Dragaway\, 18411 1st Street. Fee for spectators and race cars. \nYou can get to downtown Kenosha\, Simmons Island\, and the Kenosha History Center via Highway 32 (Sheridan Road\, named for Fort Sheridon just down the way in northern Illinois)\, Highway 50 (75th Street coming in from I-41/94\, also Roosevelt and 63rd Streets as you approach downtown)\, and Highway 158 (52nd Street). They roar along Milwaukee’s lakefront Saturday\, July 19th and Sunday\, July 20th. \nAn “M” for Milwaukee at the Milwaukee Air & Water Show we snapped from Back Bay Park on Milwaukee’s East Side.\nExciting acts having performed in Milwaukee’s skies this July include the U.S. Navy P-8 Poseidon Patrol Aircraft\, U.S. Navy Leapfrogs Parachute Team\, the USAF T-38 “Talons”in 2-3 ship formation\, the return of the U.S. Air Force A-10 Warthogs\, the U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super-Hornet Tactical Demonstration Squadron\, the Wisconsin Air National Guard KC-135 Stratotanker straight from Milwaukee’s own 128th Air Refueling Wing base\, and the Firebirds X-treme Team. Solo aerobatics and stunts have been performed by Bill Stein\, Mike Wiscus\, Jack Knutson\, Matt Chapman\, and Lt. Colonel Josh “Tater” Boudreaux of the “Wild Blue Rodeo.” \nOn the waters of Lake Michigan\, you’ve been able to enjoy the USCGC Bristol Bay (WLB)\, a 225-foot multi-mission buoy tender out of Detroit; a Water Show act from Milwaukee’s own Dennis Pinter\, who demonstrated the “Air Chair” on the water! Daredevil and Pro Flyboard competitor Casey “Swizzle” McElwee who performed with his Hydroflyte and Flyboard act. DESCRIPTION:“Wo-Zha-Wa” means “fun time” in the Ho-Chunk language\, and Wisconsin Dells offers just that September 13-15! As one of the largest festivals in Wisconsin\, Wo-Zha-Wa is a three day extravaganza with delicious food\, a 100-unit parade\, rousing live music\, and arts and crafts that everyone can enjoy. \nWo-Zha-Wa’s flea market (Maxwell Street Days) always has new novel items to check out including gourmet dog treats\, hand-made works of art\, custom pieces of jewelry\, organic cosmetics\, and wood flowers made before your eyes. You can stroll through all these different stalls while chowing down on some of the festival’s favorite culinary treats\, like kettle corn and alligator on a stick. \nThe whole family can enjoy themselves at Wo-Zha-Wa. The yearly Wo-Zha-Wa parade is a spectacle filled with floats\, performers\, and music that fills the entire street. This lovely town at the western edge of Waukesha County’s Lake Country has a bustling downtown nestled around Fowler Lake and Lac La Belle\, and the big party is on Saturday\, September 7th from 9am – 8pm\, rain or shine. \nThere will be over 80 street vendors\, lots of food\, shopping\, kids’ events\, dancing\, and festivities including a Beer Garden.  Some details are still being adjusted\, but for now there’s still a Chili Pepper Eating Contest in the afternoon\, along with kayak races you can watch\, or even participate in! DESCRIPTION:Manitowoc celebrates Sputnik Fest due to an out-of-this-world experience on September 5\, 1962 when a piece of the Soviet satellite Sputnik IV crashed to earth\, just north of downtown right in the middle of 8th Street/U.S. 10/Highway 42. It was still glowing from the heat of re-entry when it landed! A brass ring in the street notes the exact spot of impact. The city celebrates Sputnik Fest to commemorate the glowing visitor’s anniversary\, where you’ll see some interesting costumes and space-related activities. Basically at Sputnik Fest\, science fiction rules the day – even though Sputnik itself was very real. See 5 Things about Sputnikfest in Manitowoc (and why you should go) for more on that. \nCircle marks the spot where a piece of Sputnik landed. It’s the whole reason for Sputnik Fest.\nThe landing site of that piece of Sputnikfest – which inspired this whole thing – is right in front of the Rahr-West Art Museum\, which hosts the event and holds a cast from the original piece of the spacecraft – the original was returned to the Russians – that is available for viewing all year. \nThe festival draws plenty of space fans – with Star Wars and Star Trek characters well-represented – costume contests\, music\, go-kart racing down 8th Street (there’s a bit of a hill towards the heart of downtown)\, food\, drinks\, and even an “alien drop”\, where hundreds of mini-alien figures are dropped from a cherry picker – some with prizes. DESCRIPTION:Kites Over Lake Michigan is one of the largest kite festivals in the Midwest and attracts kite fliers from all over. Learn how to fly two and quad line stunt kites from the experts. \nKites Over Lake Michigan continues at Two Rivers High School with other activities taking place along Lake Michigan nearby. It will take place Saturday\, August 31st and Sunday\, September 1st. This includes a night fly on Saturday night\, conditions permitting. \n \nSince the High School serves as the festival grounds\, Walsh Field (on 22nd Street just before the turn into Neshotah Beach) will serve as the overflow parking area. A shuttle bus service will run between Walsh Field and the high school both days from 11 am to 5 pm. Please note that the bus will be limited to 23 people per trip to allow for social distancing\, more if family members living together are present. All those using the shuttle will have to be masked. Also\, pets are not allowed anywhere on school property.\nGood news: Free kite making for kids will continue\, taking place Sunday 9/2/24 at 9.00 am. \nGreat News: The Fireworks Show WILL take place\, and it will happen Saturday evening at 8 pm. DESCRIPTION:Hudson was the last Wisconsin stop for westbound travelers on the iconic Yellowstone Trail\, which in St. Croix County roughly follows the path of today’s U.S. 12. The city celebrates 111 years of history for the Trail on Saturday\, August 10th this year with Yellowstone Trail Heritage Day. \n \nThe year was 1912 and the auto was gaining popularity. It wasn’t uncommon for horse drawn wagons to share potholes with the automobiles that also traveled the country roads and passed through everything the horses left behind. \nA few ambitious folks got together and decided to connect county roads which resulted in the first transcontinental road – The Yellowstone Trail. DESCRIPTION:The Sheboygan Midwest Challenge\, a festival and celebration of powerboat racing\, will feature the top categories of U.S. powerboat racing. The UIM Class 1 World Championship returns with boats capable of 160 mph! \nFor the first time\, Sheboygan is also a host city to the American Powerboat Racing Association’s (APBA) National Championship\, with 14 classes of fast boats in action. More than 60 race teams are expected to participate with competitors from around the world\, including Australia\, Italy\, Sweden\, Canada\, the United Kingdom\, Puerto Rico\, and the Bahamas. You can view the action from the harbor area or the expansive areas along North and South Beach. Throughout downtown Sheboygan\, you’ll find ample facilities for food\, drink\, and lodging. \nSheboygan Midwest Challenge Schedule of Events:\nFRIDAY AUGUST 9\n10:00 am to 5:00 pm: Walk through the pit area near Deland Park to see the boats and race crew up close and personal.\n1:00 pm to 4:00 pm: Watch the high-speed testing of the race boats on Lake Michigan.
