The weekend schedule will also be bolstered by Vintage Indy and the Radical Cup series\, plus two junior development series of the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires\, the Indy Pro 2000\, and USF2000\, of which many drivers of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES are graduates. \nAll active-duty first responders will receive FREE entry to the REV Group Grand Prix\, presented by American Medical Response weekend. DESCRIPTION:An artful way to spend part of Memorial Day weekend is to head to beautiful Port Washington and explore the Port Washington Art Walk downtown. From 11 am to 4pm on Sunday\, May 30th\, at least 15 business in Port Washington’s downtown will host a variety of fine artists\, mixed media artists\, photographers\, musicians\, ceramists\, and more. The fun includes live music by Janna Johnson. \nOf course\, any trip to or ever near Spring Green can include tours of Taliesin\, the beautiful and fascinating Wisconsin home of Frank Lloyd Wright or the unbelievable House on the Rock\, both just south of town via Highway 23. Fans of burgers\, fries\, and a shake coupled with rock music and classic cars have to check out Rumble Seats Drive-In\, right along U.S. 14 and Highway 60. Hinder Brewing Company presents Hinder Fest 2020\, the original festival of Hinders with a slogan of “Don’t touch your face\, grab a Hinder!” It’s a fun-filled afternoon and evening Saturday\, September 12th\, 2020 with great food\, live music\, and even a new release of a beer called Hinderfest 2.0. Food will be available from Hinder itself along with the Waupaca Lions Club and Aftershock BBQ. \nLive music at Hinder Fest includes:\n1:00 – 2:30 pm: Amelia Ford\n3:00 – 4:30 pm: Red Ben\, Laura Bomber\, and Chris LaLonde\n5:00 – 8:00 pm: Desperate Ottos\n8:00 – 10:00pm: Gerry Sloan \nHinder Brewing (pronounced like “hind end\,” not like “hindrance”) opened in Waupaca in 2017\, filled with great brewing ideas and buttocks-related double entendres. Really\, we wouldn’t be shocked if Sir Mix-A-Lot was involved in this place; but it was the brainchild of Mike Stroik\, who named Hinder as \, in a sense\, the opposite of “Hooters” (went to the back end\, you might say.) The H. and H. refer to Mike’s father and father-in-law\, Howard and Herald. \n \nHinder Brewing is located in a beautiful building on Churchill Street\, refurbished on the inside and out with reclaimed wood and other materials from buildings all over the state\, including Algoma\, Slinger\, and even some brick from Chicago buildings – most date back to original 19th century construction. \nSpeaking of construction\, Hinder’s beer samplers come in a Sprocket\, a heavy and impressive custom-made piece of iron that solidly nestles the 5-oz. glasses and you spin your way through them. They really get you in gear for all the brews they craft! (Yes\, bad pun\, but we do that here.) \n \n \nThe beers at Hinder are brewed on-site with their seven barrel system; at this time\, you can’t get their beers elsewhere\, so get them here. Beers available when we last visited (August 2020) – complete with names that go with the “Hinder” theme – include their Cafe Keister Coffee Stout; Big Bockside Doppelbock; Craggy 2.0 NEIPA; Butt Lite Light Lager; the 715 Blonde; I Pledge My Assets IPA; Red Tail Amber Ale; El Extremo Mexican Lager; Foundry H2.0\, a Helles; GladAss Porter; Schweddy Stout; Pluhm-erz KraK\, a Smash Ale; B.A. WeisseAss\, a Berliner Weisse; Rumpenheim Altbier; the Hinderweizen Hefeweizen; ze Saison Mure de La Fesse\, a Blackberry Saison with probably their fanciest name; and the Special Hinder\, a Bitter. For those who prefer wine or mixed beverages\, they’ll cover your butts\, too. \n\nHinder is a little southeast of downtown Waupaca\, but it’s also easily accessed from the U.S. 10 freeway via the direct Churchill Street exit. DESCRIPTION:The Walworth County Fairgrounds gets some loud Labor Day weekend action with the Elkhorn Truck & Tractor Pulls\, followed by live music and dancing on Sunday\, September 6th\, 2020. All proceeds from the Elkhorn Truck & Tractor Pulls will be donated to the Walworth County Fairgrounds to help them through this difficult season. This is an outdoor event so masks are recommended\, but not required. The action starts at 4pm with various trucks and tractors showing their power\, generating noise\, and making everything a loud and fun time! \nBadger Truck Pullers will manage all classes\, including: \n\nSuper Farm Tractors\n466 Hot Farm (Badger State Rules)\nPro Farm Tractors\nHot Farm Tractors\nDiesel 2.5 Trucks\nBTPA Super Stock\nBTPA Open Stock\nBTPA Pro Street Diesel\n\nAt 7pm\, a free concert with Hillbilly Rockstarz and Janette King starts on the Park Stage. \nAdvance purchase grandstand tickets can be purchased online for $10; VIP Trackside tickets can be purchased online for $20. Kids 2 and younger are free\, but they must sit on a parent’s lap. Tickets may also be purchased at Franks Piggly Wiggly\, Petes Tire and A+ Powersports in Elkhorn\, as well as Whitewater Wrap and Ship in Whitewater\, or right at the event. No refunds or exchanges; no outside food/drinks or coolers are allowed into the facility. SUMMARY:Bacon & Brews Fest\, Oak Creek
DESCRIPTION:Bacon & Brews Fest combines running\, walking\, bacon\, and beer along the shores of Lake Michigan in Oak Creek’s Lake Vista Park on Saturday\, September 5th\, 2020. It begins with a 5K run and walk\, which you can participate in in person along a twisty\, turny course in the park\, or participate in virtually from wherever you are. Why the 5th of September? Because that’s International Bacon Day! \nAfter the 5K\, at the Lake Vista location they’ll have an after party featuring the aforementioned bacon\, brews in the form of great craft beers\, plus soda\, water\, food of all kinds\, and more. All participants will receive a finishers medal\, Special Swag\, a T-shirt\, and a bacon/beer filled lunch. The party will include social distancing measures\, and masks will be provided if participants don’t have one. But be sure to party after the run… you can bring a chair\, enjoy delicious food and beverages\, and take in the beautiful views of Lake Vista Park! \nThis is all happening in Oak Creek\, right at the end of Highway 100 just past where it meets with Highway 32\, which runs along the shores of Lake Michigan from Milwaukee to Racine\, Kenosha\, and all points south. When you’re done – or even before you go – check out Drexel Town Square\, which offers a ton of shops\, bars and restaurants\, hotels\, and more! They also have their Farmers Market in the Square on Saturdays from 9am – 1pm. You’ll find the whole complex just north of Drexel Avenue just west of Highway 38/Howell Avenue. IKEA also has its only Wisconsin location along Drexel just west of I-41/I-94 (Exit #320). SUMMARY:Exeland Trout Festival
DESCRIPTION:The 28th annual Exeland Trout Festival\, sponsored by the Exeland Rod & Gun Club\, will be held over Labor Day weekend\, Friday\, Saturday & Sunday\, September 4\, 5 & 6\, 2020. A $3 Trout Fest button gets you admission to get on the Sports Center grounds\, and the button is good for all three days. This year’s festival motto is “Make your day a keeper!” \nFestivities begin Friday at the Sports Center at 5:00 p.m. A trout fish sandwich & chips basket will be the night’s specialty at Rod’s Bar & Grill. You can sign up for the cribbage tournament\, which begins at 5:00 pm (play begins at 5:30 registration fee of $10 per team.) The men’s 8-team double elimination softball tournament also starts with games at 5:45 & 6:45 p.m. Everyone is welcome to play on the Bean Bag court during the evening. Presentation of the Medallion Hunt winner is at 7:00 p.m. DJ music will be played throughout the activities. \nAt 7:30 pm\, Chris Kroeze performs. The former star on The Voice is from nearby and will put on a terrific show with great music! Fans are urged to bring a lawn chair. \nAppropriately\, Saturday’s events start with a trout fishing contest. Registration is on Main Street. The contest begins at 7:30 a.m. and concludes at 11:30 a.m. Entry fee is proof of a festival button. Contest is for brook trout only. Trophies will be awarded to the top three fish. The three winners of the contest will be invited to ride on the Exeland Rod & Gun Club float in Sunday’s parade. Once again\, the trout fishing in the Exeland area this year has been unbelievable! \nThe Dave Lindau Memorial pancake breakfast will be from 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. inside the Exeland Rod & Gun Clubhouse located at the Sports Center. \nMain Street will be busy on Saturday morning beginning at 8:00 a.m. Rummage sales\, craft sales\, garage sales\, and a bake sale will be going on. If you have a craft booth or other items to sell\, just show up\, find a spot on the street\, and start selling. There is no fee to vendors. \nIt’s a bike rider’s paradise! This will be the fourth year of the Trout Fest off road bike ride. A 27 mile loop through some of the most beautiful country northern Wisconsin has to offer. All ages are welcome but you should be in good physical shape as it’s a very challenging route. Registration is at 9:00 a.m. on Main Street in front of Superior Choice Credit Union and the ride will begin at 10:00 a.m. Cost is a Trout Fest button. A meal coupon will be presented to all participants after the ride to be redeemed at the Sports Center. \nFollow the many sporting events taking place at the Sports Center. Enjoy watching the softball tourney (10 a.m. start) & volleyball tourney (11 a.m. start). \nThe horseshoe court will be open all day for everyone to enjoy and compete. \nThe 32-team co-ed Bean Bag Toss tournament begins at 10:30 a.m. 100% payback. Top 6 places will receive cash. Entry fee for the 2-person team is $20. \nInflatable games will be scattered on the grounds to entertain the kid’s. Enough fun to entertain them all day. A wrist band needs to be purchased to get into the games. \nNobody should go hungry. Stop at one of the Rod & Gun Club’s concession areas or pay the food vendors a visit. There’s a lot of good food everywhere. \nAt noon in the pavilion listen to the music of the “Bare Bones” of Rice Lake\, formerly known as the Porch Dogs. 4 hours of great music. \nThe Texas Hold’em Tourney has been cancelled year but will return next year \nAt 4:30 p.m. a new Trout Festival queen will be crowned. Seven beautiful girls are competing for this year’s prestigious title. Last year’s queen Grace Zimmer will pass her crown onto the new winner. One of the 16 little gals competing for the Little Princess title will also be crowned at this time. \nAt 5:30 p.m. the Exeland Rod & Gun Club will make a little boy and girl happy when they draw to give away two free bikes and fishing poles. \nSaturday concludes with a street dance at the Sports Center pavilion from 8:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. Music will be provided by “The G Men”. The former Exeland band is reuniting for the first time in 30 years. Look for a fun night! \nSunday’s events continue in the morning at 7:30 a.m. with the pancake breakfast at the Rod & Gun Clubhouse located at the Sports Center. Blueberry pancakes are the specialty. Breakfast concludes at 10:30 a.m. \nAt high noon the “Joe Trcka Memorial Parade” with 75 units will move down Main Street. One of the best small town parades in the area with lots of candy being tossed out to the kids. If you haven’t registered your unit yet and would like to be in the parade\, just show up at Swan Creek Park between 11 – 11:30 a.m. This year’s grand marshals are Neal & Marna Halberg\, longtime Exeland residents who are very active in all community events. \nAfter the parade\, it’s back to the Sports Center to be part of the many events still going on. Watch the finals of all the sporting events. Once again\, the kids can enjoy the inflatable games that are on the ground. \n \nAt 1:00 p.m. a delicious “chicken dinner” will be available at the new food shelter. Plus\, a lot of other good food will be available all day long in and around the pavilion. \nCow Pie Bingo will take place south of the softball field shortly after the parade. $10 per square to win cash! Whichever one of the hundred spot the calf decides to crap on will determine the winner. Advance tickets are now being sold at local businesses. Event is compliments of North Star Acres Farm of Exeland. \nAt 2:00 p.m. the Jump River Valley Mow Masters lawn mower races will take place at the Club’s race track located southwest of the pavilion. An exciting & must see event. \nIf you want to stay near the pavilion and enjoy good food and cold beverages you can listen to the music of the popular “Man 2 Man” band. Denny Goin and his son will perform from 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. \nAt 5:30 p.m. in the pavilion\, all of the drawings will be held for the raffle prizes. The $100 cash raffle\, Special 28th Anniversary raffle\, the 4-wheeler\, small cash prizes and a deer rifle will go to the lucky winners who have purchased raffle tickets. Two more kid’s bikes will also be given away. \nJoin the fun and help Exeland celebrate the 28th annual Exeland Trout Festival!
