SUMMARY:Delavan Scarecrow Fest
DESCRIPTION:The 19th Annual Delavan Scarecrow Fest is on – with safety measures\, of course – in downtown Delavan is Saturday\, September 19th\, 2020. Both visitors and community members are encouraged to participate by either building a scarecrow and bringing it with you or building one right at the festival. Scarecrows will be displayed on the street posts throughout the downtown Delavan area\, popping up around Labor Day. Throughout the month of September\, Downtown Delavan will have “Scarecrows on Parade.” \nActivities in Water Town Park include a craft fair and sidewalk sales from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Delavan Darien High School Gridiron Club will be selling Brats\, Hot Dogs\, Chips and beverages from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.\, plus there will be free pumpkin painting from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and don’t miss the Annual Pie & Cake Auction that begins at 3:00 p.m. \nSample scarecrow – and Frankenstein can be scary! This guy looks like Fred Gwynne back in the day.\nActivities from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Activities include “Build-A-Scarecrow and Take it Home” for $10.00 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.\, and the Great Delavan Duck Raffle at 2:30. That lasts from 4-8pm and you can pre-order by calling 608-588-2164 or checking out their Facebook Event Page. \nSaturday the 19th\, the action moves into the heart of town with Local Night at the Fall Festival. Live music\, dinners\, drinks\, and fun at the Post House Garden\, right behind The Shed at 123 N. Lexington. The fun includes live music by Janna Johnson. \nOf course\, any trip to or ever near Spring Green can include tours of Taliesin\, the beautiful and fascinating Wisconsin home of Frank Lloyd Wright or the unbelievable House on the Rock\, both just south of town via Highway 23. Fans of burgers\, fries\, and a shake coupled with rock music and classic cars have to check out Rumble Seats Drive-In\, right along U.S. 14 and Highway 60. The downtown is beautiful with great architecture (natch!) and a variety of shops. One of only two opal stores in the nation is also in Spring Green\, right along Highway 23. DESCRIPTION:Turn back the clock with the 26th annual Fall Harvest Days at the Racine County Fairgrounds September 15-17! \nThe Southeastern Wisconsin Antique Power Collectibles Society presents displays of antique tractors\, trucks\, gasoline engines and farm equipment. In addition to static displays of antique tractors and equipment\, there will be large display of antique engines\, garden tractors\, and vintage cars and trucks. This year they’re featuring 175 Years of Case Tractors and Equipment. \nThe entire family can enjoy demonstrations of corn shelling\, hay baling\, threshing\, sawmills\, plus shingle mill and homemaking demonstrations. There’s a daily tractor parade\, children’s activities\, horse-drawn wagon rides\, crafts\, flea market\, farm toys and great\, down-home food.  There are also indoor and outdoor flea markets\, crafts\, and farm toy displays. Many food and drink vendors are on the grounds. There is a big tractor/equipment parade each day of the show. Each year the club raffles off a hand–made Amish quilt. \nHours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. $7 adults; kids 12 and under free. Free parking. SUMMARY:Apple Affair
DESCRIPTION:No\, not the Apple computers. We’re talking one of our favorite foods and fruits!  Galesville’s Apple Affair is a major event in Trempealeau County. It all started in 1983 as part of Wisconsin’s effort to promote the state’s apple orchards; today\, Apple Affair draws people from throughout the state and nearby Minnesota. \nThis family event is held on the Square in downtown Galesville Saturday\, October 3rd.  Kicking off the annual event is breakfast which is served in the Big Tent on the Square.  The scrambled egg omelet is cooked in one of the biggest skillets you will ever see!  It took 1\,250 eggs\, 30 pounds of ham\, 10 cups of onions\, 9 pounds of butter\, 630 squares of coffee cake\, 22 gallons of apple juice\, 21 loaves of bread and 1\,200 cups of coffee to feed the 630 people who attended the first event. Since then\, attendance numbers in the thousands. \nAs the day continues\, the aroma wafting through the Square changes to the smell of bratwurst and hot dogs cooking on the outdoor grills. \nIn another tent\, Galesville’s famous 10-foot apple pie tempts the taste buds as it bakes. \nOrchards from the area set up stands where visitors can purchase apples and apple treats served by local growers.  Apple pie\, apple slices\, caramel apples\, Queen’s Apple\, apple cider\, apple juice — if it’s apple\, you will find it here. \nIn the parking lot across from the Square\, artisans and crafters attract shoppers with everything from dollhouse miniatures to crocheted doilies to braided rugs to woodworking crafts and so much more. \nThroughout the day\, music from the big tent permeates the air.  Provided by area performers\, the music is enjoyed by young and old alike. \nThe Apple Affair Bike Tour is a popular activity for the day.  Hundreds of bicyclists spend most of the day touring the Galesville apple orchards and surrounding area.  The scenery of this “Garden of Eden” is spectacular and the event is a perfect family affair.  The first Apple Affair attracted 42 bicyclists who rode the 28.7 mile loop from downtown Galesville through the orchards. The bike tour has grown in popularity and some years\, depending on the weather\, more than 200 bicyclists have participated.
