From our “Plan Ahead” file: Ice Castles Wisconsin Wonderland announces a new Lake Geneva location this winter
Winter weather is coming to Wisconsin, we’ve been feeling it in the air. Heck, we’ve already seen snow in places. This gets us looking forward to something you should put on your calendar NOW: the recently announced spectacular return of Ice Castles Wisconsin!
Ice Castles Wisconsin Wonderland, which wowed people in Wisconsin Dells in previous years, is shifting to Lake Geneva this year. These Ice Castles create life-size winter playgrounds entirely by hand. The ice is illuminated inside the castles at night with color-changing LED lights that twinkle to music. You can explore ice-carved tunnels, fountains, slides, frozen thrones, and towering ice formations. This is truly something to dazzle the entire family.
This mega-complex of ice will be right in downtown Lake Geneva, by the beach and where Winterfest and the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition takes place from late January into early February, right along Wrigley Drive!
Weather permitting, the Ice Castles Wisconsin Winter Wonderland in Lake Geneva will open at the end of December, bolstering the hopes that the Farmer’s Almanac prediction of a colder-than-usual winter arrival will actually be true. How long will it last? Depends on the weather, of course, but they’ll keep it open into March if they can. You can keep up with the construction of Ice Castles and weather conditions, which will be continuously updated, on their Facebook page.
Admission hours and pricing will vary by day and age. We’ll have more details as it gets closer, but be prepared to hit U.S. 12 or Highways 50 or 120 to get to Lake Geneva and experience this thing come late December!
Of course, Lake Geneva offers so much else, too. Experience great downtown shopping, fall orchards in the area, ziplining at Lake Geneva Canopy Tours, water park fun at Timber Ridge, Black Point Estates & Gardens, a boat cruise, even a safari! And of course, around Lake Geneva you’ll find great resorts like The Abbey, Lake Lawn, and the Grand Geneva, and more.
