Cheese Capital Wine Walk, Plymouth

Plymouth is the Cheese Capital of the World, so it makes sense a wine walk would take on the name, too. The Cheese Capital Wine Walk takes place Friday, August 21st!

Of course, 2020 being 2020, the Cheese Capital Wine Walk will be different this year, with some needed rules in place including a) mask-wearing when not sampling wine; b) socially distancing your wine group from others; and c) use the hand sanitizer that will be made available at each location.

Now, for the fun stuff:
16 Downtown Plymouth businesses will be turned into Wine Tasting rooms. Ticketed participants will be able to go into each one and get a different taste of wine. Cheese samples and other snacks complement the wines. Live music will be at multiple stops.

You can get tickets by stopping in the Plymouth Chamber office at 647 Walton Drive (near where Highways 23 and 57 come together) Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm, or call them at 920-893-0079. Tickets are $30; you can pay by phone and have your tickets mailed ($1 extra) or pick them up at will call. Tickets must be purchased in advance!

Get to Plymouth via Highways 23, 57, or 67 to enjoy a nice evening out in Plymouth, the Cheese Capital of the World. Enjoy the murals downtown along Mill Street and nearby areas, and be sure to visit the Dairy Heritage Center, Plymouth Brewing Company, and more!

Wet Whistle Wine Fest

Algoma’s Von Stiehl Winery hosts its annual Wet Whistle Wine Fest the weekend of September 15-16, 2017 this year. Wet Whistle Wine Fest offers award-winning wines, a grape stomp, heritage foods, & live music!

It isn’t the 2,000 visitors smiling all the time that’s weird. Nor is it the trombonist standing in a grape-filled barrel while playing an amazing riff. Nor the people with sticky purple feet dancing onstage. This is normal at a wine fest and to be expected. What’s odd at Wet Whistle Wine Fest are all the costumes. They don’t ask anyone to show up dressed as wine bottles, or nuns who smoke cigarettes while downing Naughty Girl wine. And these are just a couple examples of Wet Whistle Wine Fest goings-on that weren’t made up. Don’t take their word for it… come to the wine fest and see it for yourself!
This Wet Whistle Wine Fest is a fundraiser for the Community Improvement of Algoma, Algoma Fire and Rescue.
