Enjoy some Friday night fun during First Fridays Racine, taking place along Main Street in Downtown Racine from April – October from 4-9pm! It happens throughout the downtown area, centered on Monument Square where Highways 20 and 38 cap the ends of a main thoroughfare that is Highway 32.
Friday, October 7th, 2022 specials include:
Hot Shop Glass- stop in and be ‘blown away’ as you watch artists turn 2000º molten glass into art right before your eyes! Demonstrations run from 5:30-8:30pm but stop in earlier too…they are sure to be creating!
At Racine Art Museum, (441 Main Street/Highway 32), visitors get free museum admission and can enjoy extended gallery hours from noon to 8:00 pm. Explore pieces that address the ambiguous connection between imagination and reality in Blurry Boundaries: Contemporary Artists, Imagination, and the Spaces Between; sculptural and functional objects that look at how motifs resurface through generations in Precedents: Past Meets Present in Contemporary Glass and Clay; and contrasting works by two notable educators and artists of color in RAM Showcase: Russell T. Gordon and James Tanner. Also, during the RAM Free Family Hands-On Art Project, 4:00 – 7:00 pm, visitors can use oil pastels to create an underwater scene as seen through the window of an imaginary submarine.
Ecolime will perform at Monument Square starting at 6pm

First Fridays is a group of small business owners of boutique shops, restaurants, art galleries and museums who have worked together to put this event on nine times a year for 13 years. Businesses stay open late, put live music outdoors in three parks, have horse & carriage rides and an outdoor beer garden. Art galleries offer artist’s demonstrations, restaurants offer specials and boutiques highlight new or favorite product lines. The sidewalks are filled with people and downtown is alive and vibrant.
