Spring air is Springing across Wisconsin!

World's Largest Six Pack, La Crosse

Spring means you need to get that six-pack back. Here’s the “World’s Largest Six Pack” in La Crosse to provide inspiration.

It went up into the 60’s and low 70s in southern and western Wisconsin earlier this week; yet there’s a still some snow on the ground in a few spots up north. You have a lot of choose from across the state right now! But spring is definitely making itself known – and a little early, too.

There’s a lot to see when you do State Trunk Tour drives on Wisconsin highways, and with events coming up that celebrate spring, St. Patrick’s Day events and parades and more, there’s plenty to do along or at the end of your road trips.

We’re adding more routes and more detail to existing routes, along with pictures, points of interest, attractions and more road coverage. Enjoy the Badger State by exploring it – Pick Some Roads and GO!!

There’s a lot to see when you do State Trunk Tour drives on Wisconsin highways, and with events this weekend like the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sports Show at State Fair Park in West Allis or Arti Gras in Green Bay, there’s plenty to do at the end of your road trips.

Winding down February in Wisconsin

One of our favorite rock cuts in Wisconsin is along Highway 11, just east of Highway 35 near Hazel Green.

Winter’s no done yet, even though we keep getting nice little shots of mild air (we’re not complaining.) But the winter sports are still fun, from snowmobiling to cross-country skiing and more, and events to prepare you for spring are underway. We’re adding more routes and more detail to existing routes, along with pictures, points of interest, and more as we get ready for March – which is always an interesting month around here. February rolls on with Wisconsin Winter Fun!

conover_blizzardblast01

Chilly Charlie warmed the festivities in Conover (Hwys 32, 45) this past weekend at the Blizzard Blast, which featured snowshoe baseball and recliner racing.

We hope you enjoyed Valentine’s weekend, Bucky’s big win over Maryland, and braved the cold snap and snow.  A milder week is on deck and there’s a ton of fun stuff to check out across Wisconsin as the beauty of snow-covered hills, trees, and more beckon – as do winter sports like snowmobiling, skiing, sledding, ice fishing, and huddling indoors if it gets cold enough again.

The Birkie is coming up this week and through the weekend in Hayward, which always draws a hearty and active crowd. Other Events include indoor activities like Food & Froth in the Milwaukee Public Museum; there’s something for everyone. Enjoy exploring the state and come back often more updates on our favorite roads, attractions, and more across Wisconsin!

Snowfall clings to some of the evergreens along Highway 64 between Mountain and Pound. A sunny winter day makes for a beautiful drive in the North Woods.

Travelers on U.S. 51 between Wausau and Tomahawk will find this grin pointed at them, at Boss Hogg’s Alley – a bar near Irma.

We’re into a brand new year for roadtripping around Wisconsin. Of course, plenty of great events are happening this year as build out more roadside coverage on the new State Trunk Tour site.

After a mild start, it’s cold again. The recent snow and cold is great for snowmobiling and downhill skiing now! Check out the Snow Report here.

WELL, it’s a messy day across Wisconsin. And we’re not just talking about yesterday’s Packer game. A Winter Storm Warning dominates today, with ice, sleet, and moderate snow to the southeast and heavier snow to the northwest. We love road trips, but hold off today!

Of course, plenty of great events are happening as we approach New Year’s and welcome 2016, and we’ll be building out more road coverage on the new State Trunk Tour site as we go. The cooler weather is making downhill skiing a good option now, too! Check out the Snow Report here. And we await some cool New Year’s events, including the “Droppin’ of the Carp” in Prairie du Chien and the Cheese Drop in Plymouth!

We keep adding more material on our new platform and are covering more new highways across the state, with our favorite quirky bits, photos, and more to help you maximize the fun of roadtripping around Wisconsin. Full swing winding down 2015!

Elf Storage at Armour Self Storage in Milwaukee

Happens every year around this time! Although – wouldn’t one store elves AFTER Christmas when the busy season is over?

Despite the relatively mild December overall, we’ve a full complement of the holidays across Wisconsin with fun events happening over all the place. The cooler weather is making downhill skiing a good option now, too! Check out the Snow Report here. And we await some cool New Year’s events, including the “Droppin’ of the Carp” in Prairie du Chien and the Cheese Drop in Plymouth!

December Across Wisconsin

milwaukee_sunsetatvalleypowerplant

The setting sun’s light gets caught in the water vapor escaping from the Valley Power Plant in Milwaukee, right next to I-43/94.

December’s here and we’re fully into the holiday season! Our mild weather is making travel easier – though not by snowmobile – yet there are still tons of Christmas and other holiday events are happening all over Wisconsin. Check out the state, highway by highway… Pick Some Roads and GO!!!

One thing we recommend? The Gobbler reopened as a performance venue, but keeping many of the building’s original touches. Check it out in Johnson Creek along Highway 26 and I-94!

We have new route postings, like Highway 142 with the Bong Recreation Area and the Mars Cheese Castle, and Highway 107 with its beautiful drive over the hills of Marathon County and along the Wisconsin River. There’s plenty more to come, keep checking back and follow us on Facebook or Twitter!

Happy Thanksgiving!

142_packermailbox

We’re a sucker for Packers mailboxes. We found this one along Highway 142 just east of Burlington.

Thanksgiving is upon us, with Bart Starr and Brett Favre returning to Lambeau for the game against da Bearsss – there’s a TON going on! It’s always a good time to road trip around Wisconsin and plenty of fun events are happening. Have a safe and happy holiday, and Pick Some Roads and GO!!
